Evanston, Ill. (December 19, 2008) – Mather LifeWays, a unique not-for-profit organization dedicated to creating “Ways to Age Well” for older adults, announced today that David Kane has been named Vice President, Senior Living. Kane will have overall responsibility for Mather LifeWays senior living communities in Illinois as well as Splendido, the organization’s Continuing Care Retirement Community in Tucson, AZ. He will be supported by Sara McVey, Vice President of Marketing, who adds Director of Operations to her responsibilities.
“David’s vast experience in senior living operations will be a great asset to Mather LifeWays,” said Mary Leary, President and CEO. “He is an ideal addition to our team.”
During the latter part of 2007 through early 2008, Kane served as Interim Executive Director of Splendido, helping ensure a smooth transition. Kane has a diverse background in operations, having worked within a variety of organizations, including ARA Services, Classic Residence by Hyatt, and his own firm where he provided consulting to hospitality, fitness, and weight loss companies, as well as to clients involved in senior living, development, and property management. He has worked with a variety of senior living communities including Continuing Care Retirement Communities, independent living communities, and health care centers.
He has a Bachelor’s Degree in Liberal Arts from Neumann College, an Associate’s Degree in Culinary Arts from the Culinary Institute of America, and received his Nursing Home Administrator’s certification from George Washington University.
Sara McVey will assume additional responsibilities as Vice President of Marketing/Director of Operations. “Sara has played a strong leadership role since she joined Mather LifeWays in 2003, resulting in the organization’s unique brand and national recognition for innovations in marketing to older adults,” said Leary. “She will continue to lead the marketing team and add her expertise in support of senior living operations with David Kane.”
Since September 2008, McVey has served as Interim Operations Advisor to Mather Place of Wilmette. She received her Executive Master of Business Administration Degree from the University of Chicago during 2008.
