Sub-freezing temperatures are reason enough to spring for a hot bowl of soup, but from now until Feb. 28, a Northwest Side restaurant is sweetening the pot.
Through its “Soup for the Price of the Temperature” deal, Mather’s More Than a Cafe, a coffee shop and senior center, is tying the cost of its daily soup special to the high forecast in the Chicago Tribune each morning.
The normally $2.99 bowl will sell for as many cents as there are degrees on the thermometer, plus tax, according to Jeff Rose, manager of the cafe’s Portage Park location, 3235 N. Central Ave.
