FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
Evanston, Ill. (October 9, 2014) – Mather LifeWays has identified Symphony of Evanston, a Member Facility of the Symphony Post Acute Network®, as the new owner/operator for Mather Pavilion, 820 Foster Street, in Evanston, effective November 1, 2014.The sale fulfills a strategic decision by the not-for-profit to move away from operating freestanding nursing homes, and will in no way affect ownership or operation of other Mather LifeWays residences, including The Mather, a continuing care retirement community (CCRC) in Evanston; Mather Place of Wilmette, an independent living community in Wilmette; and Splendido, its CCRC in Tucson, AZ.
The announcement was made yesterday to employees jointly by Mary Leary, CEO and President, Mather LifeWays, and David Hartman, Chief Executive Officer, Symphony Post Acute Network, with separate communications to residents and family members.
Symphony’s Member Facilities have operated long-term care communities for more than 35 years and currently operate nearly 30 communities in Illinois, Wisconsin, Arizona, with future sites in Indiana.
Mather LifeWays opened Mather Pavilion 21 years ago to provide long-term care services for residents from its other North Shore locations, which at that time did not offer on-site care options. Those communities now offer access to a range of health care services.
“Mather Pavilion has been an integral part of Mather LifeWays and we are extremely proud of the employees who work tirelessly to enhance the lives of residents, and whose efforts have led Mather Pavilion to be named one of the nation’s Best Nursing Homes by U.S. News & World Report,” said Mary Leary. “We sought a new owner which will continue to provide quality care for residents, peace of mind for families, and employment opportunities for staff.”
